The SINOROCK2013 Symposium is organized by the
· ISRM Commission on Rock Engineering Design Methodology
· State Key Laboratory of Geomechanics and Geotechnical Engineering, Institute of Rock and Soil Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences
· Tongji University, Shanghai
Symposium Highlights
· This is the 3rd SINOROCK symposium
(the first was held at the Three Gorges Dam Project site in 2004; the second was held at the University of Hong Kong in 2009)
· It is a Specialized Symposium of the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM)
· It is being held in conjunction with a Meeting of the ISRM Commission on Rock Engineering Design
· And it is being held in conjunction with the Workshop on Underground Research Laboratory (URL) Networking
· And in conjunction with the Workshop on Discontinuous Deformation Analysis
· And in conjunction with a meeting of the ISRM Young Members’ Presidential Group
· A Short Course on “Understanding Structural Geology for Input to Rock Mechanics Analyses and Modelling” will precede the Symposium (Profs Cosgrove and Hudson from Imperial College, London, UK)
· Pre- and Post-Symposium tours will be available
· The Symposium programme will follow the rock characterization, modelling and design process
· An excellent set of Keynote Lectures will start the sessions
· Prizes: Best Paper Prize and Best Young Person’s Paper Prize (< 35 years old)
· Exhibition
· Local technical site visits
· Specially designed Accompanying Persons’ programme
· Range of good, competitively priced accommodation
